so a family moves into a nice house with 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, etc, the usual. they kids can now have their own separate rooms. but what happens when the kids grow up and move out? you now have 3 rooms of the house completely unoccupied, taking up space. you basically wasted all that extra money for those 3 rooms that were used for only 5-10years? the only way you would get your money's worth would be if the kids stay to live with their parents into adulthood and middle age, or if you rented those rooms out. and this is a huge problem for safety and privacy reasons.
now we are seeing the price of housing increase to match the extra wasted expense and time of creating these unwieldy living spaces. it's clear that house designs need to change.
a better house design would have smaller rooms, almost like stalls the size of a jail cell, where the kids go in to sleep, use computer, read, and study only. you don't need much space for that. for all other activities they don't need to be in their room. this will also encourage them to be with the rest of the family in the living room.
this will save space, material cost, manpower, etc. instead of 4 huge rooms in two stories, you now have 1 main chamber for the parents, 4 pods, or maybe 5 stalls for kids in just one story and still have the same number of bathrooms.
the house of the future will also be one room one bathroom, for the homeowners/parents. then there will be a separate building for the kids. once the kids move out, other adults can rent those stalls in that separate building cheaply. there is a connecting bridge into a shared living room/kitchen area, but you can control the renter's access to that as the home owner. i solve multiple problems with increasing cost of living, sustainability, environmentally friendly by decreasing materials, lumber, etc used in house. if city planners or whatever did what i tell them i'd win the nobel prize for this because this solves so many problems. perhaps all the problems of the city.
