How accurate are mirrors?

Definetly more accurate than any kind of photos since photos are 2D.

Mirrors that double invert your face are the most accurate and the larger and flatter, the better

Mirrors are you, period. However the brain has such a huge coping mechanism (for our own sanity and protection) you have become familiar with how you look in them and therefore perceive yourself as better looking than you are. It's just something your brain has done to keep you from suicide. Plus we tend to subconsciously look at ourselves in the mirror at our most flattering angle that we (again subconsciously) have found through the years of using mirrors

Also if u exclusively look at urself in the same mirror everyday under teh same lighting conditions thats NOT very accurate since others are gunna see u in every lighting condition which can effect how your cheekbones pop and other factors. You need to have a mirror and take it under various lighting conditions and look at yourself in all of them to determine what u look like

if a female lion watch her cub die, she move on after couple of days. humans? may never function again. other animals are much much better at coping. it's hard for humans to cope because we understand the depth of that, and have a deep thought process that most of the time are more bad than good. humans heal much slower.

take a picture of someone in your family with a similar distance and see the differences. if you don't see any, your brain play tricks on you.

Yeah but people see you in way that you see yourself in mirror...Small assymetries is not noticeable Irl and not even in mirror. You can see them only when you flip pic of yourself in phones. I remember when I saw my cats reflection in mirror and she looked weird and completely different in Irl.

No I look same in pictures... but it goes bad when I flip them... If I looked like in flipped picture. I would be rated 2-3Psl and people would call me ugly as hell.. but because Im getting good response in Irl and Internet.. . It means I look how I look in mirror. The brain can make you look ugly when you are not really that ugly.

If i look in the mirror from 1 meter distance, I look way better than when I go really near in front. The wrinkles, folds and recession is a lot more visible. Almost like the lens distortion effect on camera

I only look at the mirror holding another mirror perpendicular to the mirror. That gives the same effect as a true mirror.
