How bad is it to microwave Tupperware

There are countless cases of so called "tupperware trannies".

I wouldn't do it. But then I rarely use the microwave, and only then to defrost butter or something. I don't think the microwave will interact directly with the Tupperware, but the boundary layer between the Tupperware and the food could become an anomalous focused energy area super heating the food in that one very small spot.
