How can i fix my personality?

All of my friends and practically everyone i meet eventually confesses to me that i have a very mean and abrasive personality. This commonly ends up with people leaving me and i end up making them feel sad. How can I change?

Be nicer to people, be patient before you talk and calm as well, pay attention to tone not only words. Smile when your talking even a slight one.
