of course they aren't since Harvard can't afford to let any mong into their university when their primary source of funding is tuition from students.
Cambridge has a 34% graduation rate which means that it's easy to get into the uni but graduating is a whole different story

you were the one who brought up cambridge first. I never wanted to bash cambridge, but imo they are not on the level of harvard in terms of admissions.

Admissions isn't the only thing to consider. I would say prestige is way more important.

For example the acceptance rate to Peking/Tsinghua in China or IIT in India is below 1%. The reason is both countries have over a billion people each and there are only a few good unis so naturally everyone would just go for the best ones that can ensure they can go anywhere in their career.

Yet lets face it. How many ppl outside these two countries know about these places? Meanwhile everyone knows what Harvard or Oxbridge are.

China already outperforms America when it comes to research output I'm pretty sure, if Ivy Leagues keep going down this diversity route as opposed to the meritocracy route then they will end up lagging behind. I have actually heard that a lot of CCP officials end up sending their kids to American uni because they couldn't get into a top tier Chinese uni, so they go for American prestige.
