How can I look really good on some pics and utterly subhuman on others?

And it’s not even lens distortion because on some selfies I look better than on pics from distant or on some pics from distant I look good while on others I look subhuman

One explanation I guess is that on most pics where I look better I don’t look straight in the camera so I must look best in a 3/4 view. And lightening seems also to play an important role. But still this really is annoying because it fucks with my mind all the time

Lighting is everything and it fucks with my perception of myself so much, not just in photos, but when looking at myself in the mirror. I'll look at myself in the mirror with the light shining in and I'll look borderline chad-lite, but then I'll look at myself in a different mirror in a different room and I descend 2 points.

I'm such an autist that sometimes I'll go to a public bathroom just to see what I look like in the mirror.

I make it a point to visit ever single bathroom where ever I am to make sure my face looks consistent in all the mirrors

Symmetry is also a big factor. Have one eye slightly squintier or one side of your face tense or in shadow and it wrecks the harmony
