would this actually work though? i feel like it'd only increase bone density, not bone size. even if it did increase bone size, it'd probably just result in acromegalic features which usually aren't aesthetically pleasing

That is unlikely in my opinion; generally increased bone formation will inevitably lead to increased bone size. Though, the increase in bone size may be quite minimal and/or impractical.
