How can I tell if I need MSE or not?

I spoke to my maxiofacial consultant and he said my palate was wide enough so I don’t need MSE but he works for the NHS so doesn’t consider aesthetics only function.

If your palate is already wide enough then widening it further will only fuck up your teeth spacing and give you an ogre appearance, if the guy says you don't need it, then you probably don't need.

A "narrow" palate in the medical sense is one which is significantly smaller than the average (23.86mm) and it causes issues with deeth alignment, speech, tongue placement or breathing. But a "narrow" palate in the aesthetic sense is not something that's truly defined.

If your teeth are nicely aligned and your palate is average, don't risk MSE, you'd spend a lot of money just to ogremaxx yourself.

MSE/MARPE is over rated.

If maxilla sub human, prob your mandible is. How much you can expand depends on mandible.
So here you are, to truly maximize your need SFOT/MARPE/braces.

my teeth are horrifically aligned but im getting braces for it to fix the alignment as well as a functional bimax. I just used a ruler and measured the distance between my two first molars (left and right side) and my palate is about 45mm so I guess he was right.
