how can people be dumb enough to believe the average is 5'9 in the west?

i am exactly 5'9 right on the inch, i live in the UK and everywhere i go i see a lot of people that dwarf me. id say half the men i see are 5'11 and above. and this isnt outliers because i see it all the fucking time. in multiple cities, big and small. everytime i go from college to home or to the gym and back etc etc. the only time i ever feel average is when i come across old men who are shorter than the younger generations. and the UK is a relatively short country in europe, netherlands, denmark etc are much taller.

if 5'9 is average how come its common to see people above 6ft but you rarely ever see 5'7-5'8 men despite those heights being closer to 5'9 than 6ft.

i've tried coping as hard as i possibly can by believing this 5'9 is average myth but ive come to realize its like believing the sky is green just because a fucking paper in some labatory says that the sky is green. i dont care what the papers say, it doesnt reflect the reality. 5'9 is not average, not in the slightest. the average is 5'11-6'1.

5'8" or 5'10" is average in the States were friggin midgets here. Though I do see a lot of 6' and above. I dunno I don't get out much more but my brother's generation is tall af compared to mine. Likely a generational thing

if you're going by statistics for the 5'8-5'10 average its probably bullshit just like the UK average.
