How can people live their lives in delusion?

It’s despicable, horrid and embarrassing.

Whenever I see certain circumstances/events, they take me back to a certain point and I envision myself thinking as I used to think at that time and I squimmer at the thought of me having those thoughts, but it seems like others don’t really experience that! And I find it a bit sad.
