How come the victims of slasher movies are always high school students or college students?

How come Jason, Ghostface or Freddy wanna go hunting down some downtrodden hillbilly family or killing old men in the nursing home? Why do they always have to go after young people?

I think it’s because they wanna attract young audiences because they know it’s “cool” and they know the viewers wish they were victims in the movie too

how come you've made this thread 10 times already

because the villains in the slasher-movies are evil, and they kill people that still have life left to live, that have value

a person killing oldcels would be considered a saint

Na I feel like that’s a legit reason if that happened irl, but I feel like the writers and directors are trying to make the viewers jealous and wish they were the victim in the movie and die in cool ways

Because thats the target audience for these movies so it makes it more relatable to them
