I know they are correlated but by how much? Are there people with wide palates and narrow mouths and vice versa? How do soft tissue and muscle come into play?

His mouth width is normal. Sean O Pry also looks like he has a bad palate yet has good lip width.How many mm is a narrow mouth?
Nessman has a baby hamster palate but his mouth doesn't look that narrow to me, at least for a palate that narrow
