Japan is very small compared to China. Chinese usually are not the type to fuck around but Japanese were also using kamikaze tactics in wars which is impossible to defend. When one of your soldiers is happy to kill himself to take out as many enemy as possible, that is what probably intimidated the Chinese. Japan beat them in many occasions.

One thing I am happy about is that Japan got nuked. Unfortunately they needed to learn their position the hard way.

Look up Soviet Union KD ratio. They had a KD ratio of 5 to 1. For every German soldier they killed 5 soviets died, they won the war but had the most casualties of any nations and just terrible stats and never even recovered demographically. That’s a shitty victory, unlike the US that had positive KD ratio and a boisterous economy after. The US has been the sole power for the last centurion, not china or the soviets
