How did the guy behind Wheat Waffles grow the channel when it had only a few videos and barely any subscribers?

I’m struggling to grow my YT channel (sperggily named Turbo Blackpill). Each video I upload doesn’t really get more views than its predecessor. Most of my views come from me posting the videos on this site.

The thing about Wheat Waffles is that I didn’t find self-promotion by Wheat on forums. As far as I know, Wheat Waffles managed to grow his channel from 0 subscribers without posting video links on Reddit and forums like the one we’re on. Where did the channel’s viewers come from at the very beginning? 0-view videos uploaded by 0-sub channels don’t rank in search (so it’s not like a whole lot of people just searched “blackpill” and stumbled upon Wheat Waffles), and they definitely don’t get recommended by the algorithm. Wheat Waffles must’ve done something that got him his 1st group of viewers. What did he do?
