What’s currently the best language to learn in order to make the most money and get hired the quickest? How do people who don’t have computer science/engineering degrees even get hired? Do you show off some sort of collection of things you’ve built to employers? How are they able to gauge how good you are?

HTML? Isn’t that for website building? I hear JavaScript is the GOAT

1. Typescript/JS/React/NepotismMAXX

2. They contribute to open source, have a list of unique personal projects, and have prior workhistory as a wageslave in another industry

3. Different personal projects have different requirements and skill thresholds, i.e building a blog, vs building a discord clone. They will be able to read your code, They can ask you questions about projects you've worked on, they can ask you to do leetcode questions

pretty easy

software engineering jobs have stagnated quite hard 2022-2023, warning to anyone entering the job market 3-4 years from now i don't know if it will get better due to ai. So its been like 4x as hard as compared to 2019-2021 to get a job and will continue to get harder

98% of software jobs in 2024 are "website building" bro.

html & css are front end (website builders)
javascript/typescript is the GOAT
python maybe since it's easier but never make it ur main, js is the world's language like english
and typescript is basically javascript with more feautres

AI still can't do shit. Layoffs are because of interests rates. stfu. i use chatgpt everyday btw, still cannot automate even junior work lmao, saves a lot of dev time tho

building an API = "website/application building" retard

have you been using chatgpt 4 and claude 2? could easily build a full application front to back in 500 requests or less with enough context tokens to cover the whole project. All of FAANG has pushed amazons pip and have been soft laying off due to just cost cutting. I never directly said ai would take all jobs i do think it will have atleast some effect

React and JS

Thr last thing that companies care about is your degree. Skills are 100x more important but a degree definitely helps a lot
Do you show off some sort of collection of things you’ve built to employers?
Yes project's, if you are capable of doing competitive coding on hackerrank, leetcode etc
How are they able to gauge how good you are?
Coding jobs have rounds. Like coding round, HR round etc

i have literally gotten amazon swe internship without a single coding round, could apply to adjacent roles (tpm, pm, sa, ds, da) and the manager might give you the swe final round which is basically a trivia based round with hiring manager. If you specialize too you wont need leetcode, only ever had one technical round but it was more of a project walkthrough

this explains your AI meming so much.

AI is powerful, yes.
AI can speed up development, yes.

Is AI responsible for SWE layoffs? fuck no. It's simply the fiscal environment, as soon as interest rates start to drop expect there to be biggest tech boom ever, especially with all the recent wave of gen AI startups who are using langchain to chain models for novel solutions

never said it was responsible for the fall off, i just said it may have an effect on the future of swe job market

you don't have to be an innovator, plenty of billion dollar tech businesses are just clones of others :lul:

pretty important for game development tho
heavily used in industry, know a lot of fellow graduates working for companies using C#

couple internal projects i work on were built in C# but i haven't touched them, mostly do java

ez, chatgpt + ai = win

What differentiates coding geniuses/elites from normal coders? Aside from experience
in hiring terms, speed+quality of implementations is really the only thing that makes someone a "genius" from a management perspective

if you mean actual geniuses, it really has nothing to do with writing code, but more just coming up with novel solutions to problems like any other field

Best to get hired: knowing Python and react. Or knowing Javascript and React.

Will going all in in cybersecurity be worth it?

hey i have one hand i type super slow + lots of errors, also a lack in basic fundamentals in mathematics.... could i pursue coding?

coding is "easy" but thats a bad thing. Take some time to learn ML and AI, because AI will soon replace all coders. And how do you study ML and AI? maths and statistics. All roads dont lead to rome, all roads lead to math.
