I think there are some things that change as you age, maybe inherent in the brain, or maybe just as people accept their situation after so many years. Once people are 50, 60 years old they seem to settle. Not that many 30 year olds are hard workers trying to get the best they can, but for people past middle age it seems almost universal that they just quit trying. When a man is that old he doesnt want to find someone new, and maybe he realizes that even if he tried he couldnt find anything better. But he is old and tired and he doesnt have the drive or energy to try anyways
