Anyway, I am really paranoid about hidden cameras being placed in my hotel room, recording me all the time.

Is this likely? Can I somehow find and destroy them?

Take your camera. If it has ir feature you can scan the room with live feed. Most cameras will flash a bit in this if you lower the exposure or shutter rate. You can easily spot potential cameras that are hidden this way. Same reason why you can see a TV remove flash on its front of you record it with your phone camera. CCTV cameras and mini cameras do the same thing
