How do i explain to my normie mom long hair is law.

I recently went to the barbershop to take off a lil off the top cuz it was getting way too big (i want to grow my sides first) and when she saw me when i returned home she was saying i didnt cut anything.She thinks i need to buzz and fade to be considered a haircut.What do i say to my normie mom???
