I've always struggled with greasy and oily hair for a lot of my life and even when I shampoo my hair the grease doesn't go away. Lets say on monday I shampoo my hair its rlly nice for that day but a day or two later it gets really greasy and oily.

I have pretty fine hair so I was wondering if that had anything to do with it.

Also I've been struggling with danadruff since around 12 or so.

wash it everday with shampoo

Is your dandruff due to dry scalp or seborrheic dermatitis? Since your hair is oily, it can be dermatitis, but you have to figure it out. Keep the current shampoo schedule, but try ketoconazole shampoo if you suspect seborrheic dermatitis and try using a niacinamide serum on your scalp to regulate oil production.

Sadly, your issue is mostly genetic. If you go to a dermatologist, they may prescribe overall medication. Overall, the best advice you can get is to experiment. Maybe your hair will still do well if shampoo more often than you already do, maybe your products are too strong or too light for your hair, or maybe you have a scalp condition as seborrheic dermatitis that's causing the flakes. Experiment, try out every method you can and see what sticks and what doesn't, everyone's hair and scalp is very different, so your best bet is to figure out what works best in your case.

It takes time and kinda sucks, but that's what it takes.

Try different shampoos and do research on them also try and go see what type specific type of hair you have, start a routine of deep washing your hair bi weekly or weekly or tri for whatever reason. Spilt the days you regularly wash your hair up, one week try every day, another every other , maybe one week you barely wash, see what happens take notes and adjust your plan accordingly

Shampoo every 3-4 days use Conditioner everyday, change ur pillow case once a week. Also find out what shampoo and conditioner matches with ur hair type dont use some BS like head & shoulder would rather get AIDS than use head & shoulders and dont use too much shampoo esp. on thin hair use a small amount

Just increase your Shampoo usage + Brush your hair to even out the oil throughout your hair

Since your issue isn’t seborrheic dermatitis, I wouldn't recommend using a ketoconazole shampoo. Ketoconazole is primarily antifungal, and seborrheic dermatitis is typically driven by a fungal overgrowth on the scalp combined with immune system sensitivity. Since that's not your case, you have to approach it differently.

For dryness, I’d suggest washing your hair every other day, using a scalp massager to exfoliate, and considering scalp oils to maintain moisture and prevent flaking. Your oily hair should improve as you address the dryness. Washing every other day is usually ideal for straighter hair types, since oil travels quickly along the hair strand, and it sounds like you produce oil fairly fast. However, overwashing dries out the scalp, leading it to produce even more oil to compensate.

That's why you need to balance. Use shampoo only when necessary and try not to scrub your scalp every time. When you do shampoo your scalp, follow up with a non-comedogenic oil to lock in moisture.

Over time, you’ll find your own routine, you might need to wash a little more or less often, depending on how your scalp reacts. The goal is to keep your scalp neither stripped nor greasy and in that sweet spot. Find out how often you need to wash, do not always wash your scalp with shampoo and when you do, use an oil to avoid it getting dry and flaky, for extra exfoliation work to get rid of flakes use a scalp massager.
