Many months ago I mentioned to a colleague I am "seeing" someone. This was after almost a year of her casually making remarks and then asking me one day have I found anyone yet. I said yes I've start a LDR with a girl about 50 miles from me and we see each other 'sometimes'.

I've made some elaborate stories since like how we were planning a holiday in this summer but her father passed away suddenly. I work with a team that literally start the week saying "how was your weekend" and they all say "I spent the weekend with my partner/gf/bf/husband/wife doing this". I'm usually left out of this conversation but with my new fake gf I could larp some shit and say normie stuff.

However it's now got to a point that we're planning a 'team.building' day and then dinner with our partners end of this month.... I'm kind of fucked. My team even said let's relocate and spend the day more near north of London where my fake girlfriend lives near. I said that makes it it much easier for us. I wish I hadn't killed off her fictional father then I would've had a perfect excuse. Saying her mother suddenly died or on life support might sound sus.

I don't want to not attend because it's part of our work technically and we get paid for this day + get free food. What would you do in this situation?
