How do i make long term friends in college

I feel like everybody joined in with their buddy and im the only one who joined in alone like joining with your buddy gives you like a 50% confidence boost and im alone and even when im forced to talk to someone like in a group project theyre only transactional friendships like how do i make friends because i only have like 2 friends and both of them talked to me first so i cant just hope that it happens again in uni, pls help

i look average as well so im not that ugly that people dont want to talk or atleast i think
