Practice box jumps, short distance 80%-100% sprints. And recover well, stretch well. If you increase your cardio and do a particular stretch i have in mind you should see gains. Make sure you are working out your legs, and rock climbing help me too

U just gotta practice bro, nothing else to. Olympic lifts in gym helped me gain explosiveness, along with normal compounds like squat deadlift etc.

But most is just practicing it, u can get good @ sprints & jumping w/o touching any weights

It’s a lot of things tbh. Muscular fibres is a big one. Fast twitch fibres are key to explosiveness. People who jump really high or run fast are normally fast twitch dominant.

Calves are also very important. If you have high small calves your Achilles heel tendon is longer and able to produce more spring for you.

Think of it like a rubber band, when you bend your leg your Achilles tendon stretches and then you release and it propels you upwards. That’s why you see a lot of people with longer ones having that ‘spring in their step’ and naturally ‘bouncy’.

Strength is also important very under rated tbh. You need to be a let squat 2x your bodyweight. Why? The more raw force your muscles can produce the more you’ll be able to use. Power = force x speed. This works less so for sprinting as speed is very fast twitches but for dunking and jumping high raw force has a huge impact. This is because the movement is usually slower in nature.

You usually get two types of athletes tbh. One is naturally springy and agile and the other is strong. One usually is light and has high set calves while the other is bulky and have low set big calves. Their strength makes up for them lack of length in there Achilles tendon and affects their style a lot.

Genes
If you have ACTN3 gene expression they you will use fast twitch fibres a lot better and faster.

Body mechanics

If you have long Metatarsal bones you can produce more force on the ground, if you have narrow hips, you will naturally have a huge advantage over others in sports like running. If your knees are lower than average or higher this will affect everything.

Usually people who run fast or jump very high has all of this:

They have fast twitch dominant fibres, ACTN3 gene, high small calves, perfect body mechanics.

explosivity is mostly genetic, has to do with ratio and distribution of fast twitch vs slow twitch muscle fibers. you can't train for it explicitly
