How do I stop a curse

I started praying to God last month after living Satan’s way for so long. I wish God could just save me from my suffering, but it’s not in his will. I think someone involved in witchcraft put a curse on my life a long time ago, probably before I was even born. It would explain so much about how my life has gone. Is prayer not enough? Are there any rituals to please God and summon his divine protection like wearing crucifix? Or do you think curses aren’t real?

For me I think it’s one of my relatives who was really involved in magic and the occult. Maybe they didn’t mean to but I think somehow there’s a generational curse or some kind of consequence from God. Did you have to do some kind of ritual or just wait it out?
