Stopping morning frizz on wavy hair comes down to three main steps: sleeping on silk to prevent friction, refreshing dry waves using the "praying hands" technique with a hydrating product, and locking in moisture during your initial wash day.1. Protect Your Waves OvernightSwitch your pillowcase: Swap cotton for a Silk Pillowcase. Cotton absorbs moisture and creates friction, leading to frizz.Pineapple your hair: Put your hair in a very loose ponytail at the very top of your head using a silk or satin scrunchie. This keeps your waves from being crushed while you sleep.Use a bonnet: If you don't use a silk pillowcase, sleep with your hair loosely tucked into a satin or silk bonnet to lock in moisture and preserve the wave pattern.2. The Morning Refresh RoutineMist, don't drench: Lightly spray your hair with water using a continuous spray bottle. Avoid over-soaking, which can cause wet frizz.Use the "Praying Hands" method: Put a pea-sized amount of Leave-In Conditioner or a lightweight curl cream on your palms. Rub your hands together, and gently glaze them down the length of your hair.Scrunch gently: Once the product is evenly distributed, scrunch your waves upward towards your scalp to encourage their natural shape.3. Long-Term Frizz Control (Wash Day)Morning frizz is heavily influenced by how you style your hair on wash days.Apply products on soaking wet hair: Don't wait for your hair to dry before applying leave-in conditioner or gel; apply stylers when it is soaking wet.Use a gel or mousse: Wavy hair needs hold to stay defined. Use a lightweight gel or mousse to cast the waves and block out humidity. For a visual guide on taming flyaways and properly refreshing your waves:0:58Taming Flyaways & Frizz when RefreshingYouTube · Gena Marie
