If the styling powder doesn't work I recommend leave in conditioner. It actually gives you a better "messy" kind of style in my opinion. I use a kind of styling powder sometimes and it's supposed to make your hair look more dense and have more texture. It kind of works.

I just pour it on my hair and rub it in and then just kinda mess up my hair and fiddle with it with my hands. If I use a brush after using the powder it makes it look weird.
