Retail companies probably have people who are in charge of purchasing stock and managing the supply chain who communicate with sales people from wholesalers. Might have more steps but probably a simple way of looking at it.

Many industries use brokers to match buyers and sellers.

Also I see a lot of investing and business questions on this website. Definitely not the right place to ask JFL.

Also wholesale and manufacturing aren't the same thing. Manufacturing is creating the product wholesale is marketing and selling the products in bulk (also handling logistics) usually to retailers (maybe sometimes to consumers in rare cases)

Sometimes there is vertical integration and companies can do both manufacturing and wholesale.

Thanks alot.

Like I'm wondering, if a cheap clothes store owner in Chinatown sells their clothes.

Who do they get their goods from?
