when someone says that something is a positive ratio that means that the first thing in that comparison of "a to b" is more than the next thing. In essence, a positive ratio means that a is more than b in a ratio of "a to b"

for an example "a positive ratio of 4 to 1" meaning that there are four things for each one thing.

when you say "a positive post to rep ratio" that literally means there are more post then there are reps. I have a positive post to rep ratio because it is 290 to 251.

However, I have a negative reps to post ratio because I have 251 reps for 290 post. Having a positive post to rep ratio is bad in the same sense that having a negative reps to post ratio is bad.

You want a negative post to reps ratio because that means that you have a positive reps to post ratio.
Both of which signify that more reactions were given to you when you didn't say a whole lot. in essence more engagement with minimal input/points of substance added to the forum.
