u have to find a clinic that works with them, it should say on their website. U need a cmf scan, should be around $350 usd.

Yes, our facilities can perform CT scans that include the full facial features (chin, nose, forehead, and cheeks). However, please note that our current equipment only provides 2D imaging capabilities. We are unable to offer 3D rendering services at this time.

Note that a lot of medical imaging centers (speaking just about the U.S.A. here) don't understand what "3D scan" means even if they have the right technology to perform the scan. Despite some European surgeons using the term, it's not in common parlance in the U.S.A. and use of it when trying to set up an appointment risks glitching out the 80 IQ postprime becky receptionists that man the phones at imaging centers. A "3D head scan" is just a very high fidelity set of hundreds of 2D slices of your head anyway. It is best to just tell them "you need a CT scan" and then email or fax your referral directly as they explain more clearly than you can what exactly is needed.

It is peculiarly difficult to get the proper scan for jaw surgery in implants in the U.S.A. for a couple reasons:

• Most imaging centers do not accept referrals from foreign surgeons
• Due to HIPA regulations:
  • Most imaging centers require referrals be sent directly to them by the doctor and not by you
  • Most imaging centers will only accept a referral via fax, not e-mail
    • You can get a free trial for a faxing service online if need be
  • Most imaging centers will only give you the scan on a CD, which means you will need to rip the files to your computer in your own time
    • If you do not have the means to read a CD scan you have to buy an external reader or have the files ripped onto a flash drive or emailed at a place like Office Depot
• For whatever reason, costs for these scans vary widely; most of the time it should cost $250-400, but occasionally one charges something like $1,200. Do not use the latter

After all this, it is still possible that a CT technician did not perform the scan correctly. For these reasons you often need to contact 10+ imaging centers until you find one that does not have these hangups.

Ok nvm the clinic that did accept the overseas referral only has a cbct and couldnt do it. Im in australia. Anyone got any ideas?
