How do you get freckles?

I used to have them when I was younger but now I don't, I have acne now instead also, does acne prevent freckles? I really wanna have them because they give the appearance of a shorter midface. (Im 19 btw)

freckles are one of my top tier traits. purely genetic though albeit the sun makes it easier to see them.

i usually have acne in the winter, when my freckles show less.
in the summer i tend to magically get rid of my acne and get my freckles back
