How do you know if someone's low IQ?

Obviously, if you hear them say stupid shit, you would know they're retarded, but how can you tell someone's larping high iq or just trying to be smart apart from someone who is actually smart? Also, how can you tell whether someone is just genetically gifted or has worked hard for their IQ?
