White shirts fit everyone and are usually best choice (it optically improves frame, and can also improve the way jaw looks), black are usually very good when you have fair skin and strong features like strong and dark eyebrows or black hair, the contrast black shirt - pale face - black eyebrows/hair creates very good effect


oh and also what I wrote is for t-shirts polos etc daily casual wear, for something more formal or like even "half-casual" for wearing with daytime blazer etc you should by default avoid black shirts
