Actually measuring the ramus is pointless. The only relevant marker is where the inferior border of the ramus is relative to facial landmarks from the frontal view.

More like the height of the gonial angles (or inferior border of the ramus) relative to the mouth, chin, nose, etc. And analyzed within the context of overall facial shape.
