People always think "lean = young." But if you’re a true ectomorph (naturally skinny, low fat), your face can age worse, not better.

Why?

Less subcutaneous fat to cushion and support skin

More bony landmarks visible, creating a "hollow" or "gaunt" look earlier

Higher cortisol levels from chronic leanness accelerating collagen breakdown

This is why a lot of lean guys start looking "skeletal" or "over-dieted" by late 20s, even if they have perfect body fat percentages. Solution? Preserve facial fat strategically avoid extreme cutting, manage stress hormones, and consider conservative volume maintenance treatments early (deep plane filler, fat grafting).

Then why does this guy look young at 35 despite being skinny?

Can't see the image so here is a general explanation of why.
Genetics and fat distribution, simple as that. Some guys naturally hold more facial subcutaneous fat even when they're skinny overall, so they keep that youthful fullness in the midface and under eyes. Others have thicker dermis and stronger skin elasticity, so they don’t sag or hollow as fast even if they’re lean. Plus, bone structure plays a huge role good maxillary support and strong orbital rims keep the face "propped up" regardless of body fat. Anecdotes don't override physiology. Just because one dude is an exception doesn’t change the overall pattern: most lean guys lose facial volume faster and look gaunt earlier. This guy’s just one of the lucky outliers.
