How effective is surgery?

Even the best results online are underwhelming when it comes to fixing overall facial recession. Is it worth it in my case? People on this forum have told me I don’t need it repeatedly but I’m almost certain that my bones are not in there ideal position. I think they see that my mandible isn’t recessed into my neck so they assume I’m not recessed. I’d say my maxilla is pretty obviously recessed tho.
