For the past 5 or so years I've been addicted to videogames. For the first 3 it was league of legends, and now it's world of warcraft (classic and private servers).

Can everyone share their experience with video games? They're such an insanely satisfying cope, I honestly see myself playing video games up until my 60's. I'll be sad when I have to get a wife, kids and mortgage. I don't think I could marry a woman who doesn't enjoy video games/anime.

I know it sounds soy but so much of life is boring, these copes are what make me grind for a good job. They bring color to a world swathed with grey.

Games till your teenage years are fine but (sports are better for both mental and physical state)

-Unless you're some prodigy and can stream or go on the professional stage then you can game.

After teenage years are bad if done daily maybe on weekends for couple of hours nothing more. Because there are much useful things to do and reap benefits off.

-Unless you can stream or go on the professional stage then you can generate income as it's your job.

I'm really good at league of legends and got Diamond 1 (top 0.5% in less than 2 years of playing, I could probably maintain Masters/low GM but to make it in the big leagues requires a fuck ton of time, effort and networking so there's no chance.

The problem is I don't see life as worth living if I don't have games to occupy my time. It's a horrible mindset I know but I'm not sure how to break it.

Above 19 its really bad, you just waste your time and life and most guys who do that are or gonna become losers
I know this is true but is the rest of life really as satisfying as video games? I've never read a gf only ONS so I'm not sure what relationships with women are like or what's more to life than this

I used to read a fuck ton of books as cope. Games and books are my escapes from this grey boring world. I've fried my brain with overstimulation lol

Diamond 1 in less than 2 years is definitely good! If you still think you can improve and your skills level is not capped already than you can for sure hit challenger and then try to enroll into a professional team.

Also you can still stream if youve got a cool/goofy personality. If going pro didn't work.

Not to mention that there are pro players who also stream. (faker, jankos, rekkles, caps) and many more.

Yet streaming LoL on twitch is saturated already. But ofc nothing is certain for sure! You still can get viewers if you manage your stream well.

If you made a useful profit of any game rather than just a tool to cope then you can feel good about not wasting your life off it. That's how I view it.

I used to game like a madman (12hrs) binge gaming but the enjoyment of playing declined as time passed. Because I was getting older and not heading anywhere in life, so I had to stop asap.

What usefull things can hr do
-Gym
-Reading
-Learning investing/trading
-Going on hikes, bike rides, surfing and much more such alike activities.
-Trying to establish an online business as a startup
-Work a part time job if he is still studying
-socialise going out with friends on a safari, camping, traveling, normal hangouts... Doing stupid shit, building memories instead of just sitting like a shrimp playing games.
-find a hobby like fishing

Many more things are out there in this world. I'm not saying cut gaming like plague but as I mentioned earlier that couple of hrs on weekends won't hurt if you're really into gaming.

Who said gaming is not fun? But as long as it's in moderate norm.

As you get older you must focus on more important stuff.

Offline gaming is much less "harmful" and addictive than online multiplayer gaming, usually, because you get sick of it after a while.
I think it's an important distinction to make. Online MMO games are much more addictive. Offline video games are addictive to varying degrees(open world games like Minecraft and GTA are the most addictive games to play offline) but never as much as online multiplayer games.

Growing up in a shithole with mediocre internet connection it was impossible to play most online games, let alone download them... unless I was ready to download for 2 years. My family is much better off than most of my countrymen but we weren't wealthy enough for me to ask for video games or consoles, and I was conscious of it so I didn't bother my parents too much. But I had my uncle's discarded cretaceous laptop and an internet connection. That's where my habit of playing retro ROMs offline comes from, because GBA/NES/SMS/others had very nice games and they could be downloaded for free in a few hours even with a mediocre third world connection.

tbh I think it's a good thing my internet was slow, in retrospect. If it wasn't slow I would have used the internet completely differently. Because it was slow, I valued everything I loaded, everything I downloaded, etc... which is better for the reward system than just mindlessly scrolling and watching and playing everything. When it takes hours to load something in 144p, you are not going to spend that time to load bullshit Tik Tok videos, you will naturally try to load content of higher quality and value because otherwise there is no point, and you are thus more likely to use the internet for productive purposes or to learn. A lot of the things I downloaded were pdf of books related to my hobbies for instance, like a cpp book or the documentation. I remember it took me at least 2-3 months to download Debian GNU/Linux from a torrent. It was frustrating but it's good for the reward system, because then I valued that download like it was a rare diamond, even though it was just a file for an operating system

If I ever have children(which most likely won't happen) I will purposely slow down their internet connection so they don't get the issues of low attention span and low ability to delay gratification that a lot of zoomers have, and use the internet more productively.

I've been in high elo discords and have Masters/GM friends and from everyone I talked to they said going pro was retardedly difficult in NA. Maybe if I were in Europe I could join an ERL team and climb my way up to LEC there. But NA is mainly imports and you need to have STRONG connections and networking to make it in NA. Streaming seems fun and ngl it'd be my ideal job but I scroll down to the bottom of twitch's game pages and see countless 1/0 view streamers. Sometimes I just join their stream and watch these people and talk in their chat and it seems sad. Idk if I have the personality to make it and I don't have connections with actual Challenger players. I will attempt to get Masters though just for my own ego. I appreciate the advice.
What do you think of the durability patch.
Some of my favorite champs (Fiora, Morde) became meta so it's an overall positive patch for me. Assasins aren't as bad as people say, the champs that got fucked the hardest are roaming champs like Twisted Fate and Talon. Overall a step in the right direction for the game's health. Reddit was surprisingly right this time.

I go to the gym
I used to love reading, especially sci-fi, i look for some recommendations online
Crypto market has been dumping for a while now and will likely continue to dump
none of these seem too appealing to me, maybe due to self-conditioning?
ppl always sayd "Start a Business" but it's seemed like a meme. Idk how I can create some successful online business when I can't even quit games
I do work
This sounds good. I need to completely rebuild my friend group though
Any hobbies like this other than fishing? there's nowhere to fish near me

Video games are great and not harmful at all, anyone who thinks so is a moronic out of touch luddite

It's just entertainment like movies, tv or books. There's a stigma surrounding them because It's still a relatively new technology
and boomers have no idea what they are

Honestly I find it weird when a dude doesn't play video games it's like saying you don't like movies or music

It's 2022 get with the program

I think all the shit you just suggested is boring and stupid but i'm not gonna pretend like its bad for you

And again I didn't say gaming is boring, I like gaming but in moderate norm (on weekends and not more than couple of hrs).

But daily binge gaming is ofc not that of beneficial thing to be done.

that's your opinion

people can do whatever they want

you would not say that about reading books but yet you single out games
Its due to a social stigma perpetuated by confused out of touch luddites

Games are in no way harmful period. I drank alcohol everyday like a lunatic until I was on the brink of death.

its bad, it only pays off if you can profit from it streaming wise or professional play, even then professional play life is a shit lifestyle and incel like.

streaming is kinda legit tho.

If they don't get into the way of studies and work it's ok. Enjoy.

Lol video games lowkey fucked my life. With my height and frame, I should have sportsmaxxed early on. Maybe then I would not have turned into acnecel, fatcel, weirdo loser. They are a top-tier cope tho almost up there with religion, but I've gotten pretty bored of them now that I've become obsessed with looksmaxx and trying to improve my life.
