Getting insomnia whilst using Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitors is not uncommon.
So here are the simple things I did:
- Use an Alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist (I use Guanfacine)
- Use any Orexin-Antagonist of your choice (that’s the only sleeping pill I recommend, every other sleeping pill makes u get addicted to them etc. and have bad side effects) I personally use Daridorexant
Here is what I currently use:
- 30 mg lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse/Elvanse) in the morning
- 1 mg Guanfacine at night (I’m currently starting again, soon I’m at 3 mg)
- 25 mg Daridorexant at night
Guanfacine was really a game changer for me. My sleep is so much more deeper than ever, I’d even say that it works better than Daridorexant for sleeping!
I wouldn’t really recommend Guanfacine without measuring ur blood pressure or doing it without the supervision of a professional. You could get serious cardiovascular problems. But if in the time during adaptation you measure blood pressure and don’t do any sport activities at all then you should be good.
Besides that Guanfacine has other good benefits regarding the prefrontal cortex, I really recommend using it.
