If you ask any leftist community they will all say porn and sex work is bad and say that it's misogynistic and makes men think of woman as objects. Honestly there is a lot of overlapping opinions when it comes to porn between the far right and Marxists.
However this just sounds like a strawman to me, they just parrot buzzwords like patriarchy without putting in any critical thought.
Like how is having sex misogynistic? Or watching people have sex misogynistic? Men have sexual drive and sex and masturbating is a normal part of life. Just because you have sex with a woman doesn't mean you think of her as an object, that's such an absurd take.
Also how the fuck is this related to a patriarchy? First we don't live in a patriarchal society. Second even if we lived in a matriarchal society men will still be having sex and watch porn.
When this topic comes up they just
assume everyone who watches porn is an addict and derive all their analysis based on this, but in the USA roughly 200k people are porn addicted, that's like 0.5% of porn watchers that are addicted. Compared to something like 10% of Americans that drink that are alcoholics. But you will never hear a Marxist say that alcohol should be abolished.
Then on the topic of prostitution they only ever talk about sex trafficking and this prostitution should be banned. However based on some estimates only 3.2% of sex workers in the US are trafficked. Reading what Marxists say you would think it was 90%.
another point constantly brought up is that sex work and porn is not real work and would be abolished under socialism, because a commodity isn't produced. But if you follow this line of thinking you would have to ban massage therapists, repairmen, teachers, doctors, etc, as they all don't produce commodities either.
Then if you press them on this they say some derivative of sex should be between people with an emotional connection. Which is a common right wing religious sentiment.
When the topic of sex/dating comes up in Marxist circles suddenly everyone stops being a critical thinking materialist and becomes an prude idealist.
