1500 years ago you could argue everyone in the Mediterranean was on the same level of intellectual prowess / level of advancement since Muslims were conquering parts of Southern/Eastern Europe (ottomans and moors), and vice versa with the Romans and what not.

But NA/Levants stagnated and stopped developing centuries ago due to Islam, whilst Southern Europeans went out and conquered the new world. Southern Europe kept advancing and conquering whilst North African and the Levant just stagnated and ended up becoming irrelevant due to Islam essentially pausing all forms of evolution / progress within the region

Not really. Western society until the mid 20th century has the EXACT same customs as the Middle East in terms of marriage and arranging marriages. People would ALWAYS marry off their daughters.
