How Latisse but ALSO OTC Serums Cause Under-Eye Fat Loss (PAPS)

Introduction:

If you use lash serums a quick look at the ingredient list is a must. Lots of people end up aging the eye area without realizing it, chasing longer lashes at the cost of hollowed under eyes and lost orbital fat.
Here’s the science behind why Latisse and many so‑called “normal” OTC lash serums can mess with the eye area.

1. The Latisse Issue:

What is PAPS?

Latisse is a prescription drug that contains Bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analog. It makes lashes grow much longer by extending the hair’s growth phase, but it also brings a harsh side effect to the eye area called Prostaglandin-Associated Periorbital Syndrome, or PAPS.

What it does to the eye area:

Orbital Fat Atrophy: Bimatoprost can shrink the fat cells around the eye, leading to a hollowed under-eye look and a sort of skeletal edge.

Hyperpigmentation: It can boost melanin production around the eyelids, creating dark circles that may stick around.

Enophthalmos: In serious cases, fat loss can let the eyeball sit a bit further back in the socket, removing some of the forward support under the eye.

2. Why the “Normal” Lash Serums Can Do the Same

The common assumption is that skipping prescription Latisse and sticking to a so‑called cosmetic lash serum is safer. That’s not true.
A lot of popular OTC serums (think GrandeLash, RevitaLash, Babelash) use synthetic prostaglandin analogs. Because they’re synthetic, companies can label them as cosmetics instead of drugs.Your body reacts to these synthetic analogs the same way it does to Latisse: the fat pads around the eyes can shrink.

Red flags on ingredient lists:

If you see any of these, you’re likely dealing with a prostaglandin analog and a greater risk of fat loss:

- Isopropyl cloprostenate

- Ethyl tafluprostamide

- Dechloro dihydroxy difluoro ethylcloprostenolamide

- Bimatoprost

- Anything ending in -prost or -prostamide3.

Safer Alternatives (What actually works without the fat loss)

Not every lash serum wrecks the fat pads. For longer lashes without aging the eye area, go for peptide-based serums.Serums like The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum don’t contain prostaglandins. They rely on peptides, biotin, and panthenol to strengthen and condition lashes.

Pros: 100% safer for under-eye fat, no added darkness, no hollowness.

Cons: You won’t get the extreme length that prostaglandins can deliver, but you’ll maximize your lashes’ natural potential safely.

NOTE : You can still use latisse just cover up the undereye -> accidents can still happen just be careful!

why u bumping ur ai slop water ahh thread. provided no valuable information + 'muhh use multi peptide serum', when those are incomparable to how effective bimatropost is.

did you even read the thread ? I said that if u use normal lash serums there still can be the same ingredients which are also in latisse that can lead to the same orbital fatloss but you wont realize it. This thread is just a checklist of ingredients you should check if your using basic lash serums. Most Latisse users know that latisse can lead to PAPS thats why they use under eye patches and other safety mechanism. I just wanted to point out that you should check your „normal lash serums“ as well

also i mentioned at the end that latisse is way more effective and incomparable to conventional lash serums
