How long should a jaw surgery take?

Now I am concerned.

I have seen some of the best surgeons spending from 1:30 to 2 hours operating the patient, even bimax, but on the Facebook group I joined in about jaw surgery there are many patients saying their surgeries took between 3:30 to 5 hours and they think it’s normal. WTF?

If the surgeon spends this amount of time it seems like he doesn’t know what he is doing and there is a margin for medical malpractice.

Am I right or just saying what I don’t know?

Yes, even longer

Yep I’ve been quoted 4-5h for a trimax, up to 8h with the full trimax + implants.

Some surgeons like Alfaro claim to have developed special techniques to reduce operating time. Whether that’s for the patient’s benefit or because they can fit more than one operation in per day and make more money… who knows

I thought lower jaw only took like an hour lol

Alfaro say on Insta he do it in 45mns-1h

But i think most surgeon do it in 3h

Also i'm talking about DJS, 1h per jaw if done alone

I got bimax + genio and the surgery lasted about 2hr and 45 minutes.
1 hour for mandible first, 1 hour for maxilla and 45 minutes at the end for genioplasty.
