HOW LOOKS PLAY INTO SOCIAL ROLES/GROUP DYNAMIC

  1. How do group dynamics work? Group dynamics, specifically intragroup dynamics are the underlying relations within groups that develop into roles, behavior, etc. Within each group their are further groups (think of a duo inside of a trio) However, it is important to remember the bigger a group is the less connection an individual has to the relations found, (for example looks are very connected to group dynamics inside a friend group, but not inside an entire nation
  2. Why are looks connected to group dynamics? Water take, but anyways looks determine how people percieve you, how they determine your personality and character, aswell as the limits of your relations (why youd rarely see a sub5 among an htn group for example) But of course theirs more nuance, even if a group contained a medium-low variation of looks, even the small differences are going to become the foundation of your role and the general relations.

THE ACTUAL ROLES BASED ON LOOKS

The group punching bag

The group punching bag is the friend whos always getting made fun of and put down, basically seen as an easy target for humilation, most people inside a group will typically pretend its all jokes, but hold some inner resentment for this person, as in their not good enough to hang out with us, or their "weird"

Youd assume the group punching bad would typically be the ugliest, but this is not nessescarily true; The group punching bag, in terms of looks, is the outlier. For example, if you were an indian in a group of white people, even though you may mog some of them, your almost always going to be the punching bag since your the most distinct and easiest to outlie from the group, members will typically have less empathy towards you because they subconciously see you as less of a "member"

However if your group is mostly homogenous in race and character, than the group punching bag will be the ugliest, since at default that is the outlier.

THE GROUP LEADER

The group leader is typically the best looking person, or more generally one with the highest smv/social rep.

One cannot establish themselves as a group leader, its a development of how others percieve you, this will always gravitate to the person with the highest smv/social rep because in terms of group dynamic, social rep is a value for people, and so those whi have the highest "value" have the most power, and are able to shift group relations/perceptions of people.

The reason its also best looking person is because their typically the one with highest social rep/smv (halo effect)

THE JESTER

First, we must establish the difference between a jester and someone who jokes around, the jester is always persistent on humor through voluntary self humilation,

The reason the jester feels gravitated towards this deprecation is because they, while acknowledging their lower social rep and value, still hold onto the social rep and value they have.

In order to continue to hold on, they will humilate themselves and the little value they have in order to appeal to the other members, so that they can stay within the group.

The jester is usually not the ugliest person in the group, but the 2nd or 3rd, they still have a low amount of social value and smv, and arent complete outliers in terms of looks, but their not nessescarily dominant in any of these, which is why they resort to self deprecation and jestering.

CAN GROUP DYNAMICS CHANGE?

Yes, group dynamics can change, but theirs no way to force it; and typically some distance between the group is required to reset the relations set in.

If you continue to stay at the same looks level, same smv, same social rep, etc, you will stay within the same role and the group dynamics (for you) will be persistent.

ABUSING THIS KNOWLEDGE

Technically, the knowledge of group roles and what affects them can be abused to better yourself, for example if your a mtn with decent social rep in a group and your on the lower end, and than you find your way into a group of ltns with low social rep, than you would naturally become on the higher end of the group and maybe even the leader.

However this has its limits, a group of ltns is going to have alot less social oppurtinitys than a group of mtns or any higher, so to some extent it may be better to be the group punching bag in a mtn group than a leader in a ltn or sub5 group, (More social oppurtinities=more chances to develop social rep, slay, and generally have fun)
