My teenage years were terrible, but I was actually in a pretty decent position at 21.
I was at a good school and poised to have a decent life.
Then some really negative shit happened, and I completely tanked.
Basically the straw that broke the camels back

When your formative years went badly, you're always one negative event away from slipping into depression or other mental health issues. I had a tough childhood and my low self esteem, negative thoughts are always there at the back of my mind. All it would take is some bad experiences and they'll come back again.
