how much does a palate expander actually do???

google says a palate expander is to be worn for a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 180 days and also says that a palate expander is supposed to do 0.5 mm per day. This adds up to a minimum of a 45 mm expansion and a maximum of 90 mm. How tf does this work if the ideal wide palate is 50 mm? a 90 mm palate would literally look ridiculous as margot robbie has around 50mm.

Im pretty sure its all ratio and proportions 2 people could both have a 50mm intermolar width but one of them could have a head that's longer. That guy has a bigger head and is probably taller, so 55mm might be best for him.

you're probably getting info from different palate expanders. ones surgically attached with move faster but less time while removable ones will do slower movement for longer periods
