How much does smoking actually affect appearance/ascension

Ive been an every day smoker of nic and bud for almost a year now, I have made the choice to temporarily quit in order to continue and hopefully improve my rate of ascension. My question is, am i making a big difference that will help me alot, or is it just something small that i might see a 5-10 percent difference with.

For reference I smoked maybe about .8 of bud a day (this number fluctuated alot though) and about a cigs worth of nic.

my mates been vaping since he was 9 and is now 14 and is 6'2 with good bonemass so im guessing it barely effects it
