Free will and natural physics predeterminism arent mutually exclusive

Free will just means that you are moved by your own satisfaction rather than being moved by pressure/threats (physical, emotional, economic, legal, and so on) from another person

Doesnt mean these signals that are processed in your brain that tell you to do this do that arent predetermined

It just means they happen in your brain w/o the element of a third party pressuring you

If anything the main use of the idea of free will is legal liability (mainly criminal but also civil)

you act upon your view that was shaped outside of your will, thats why criminals are more likely to be from abusive households, u act upon your natural instincts and genes so even if it is, its very limited

Id think its still your will (mental processing of an individual want) and not directly pinpointed to a third party especific will (i.e. my id tells me to eat a cake and my ego go and eat the cake vs. i hear someone tell me "eat the cake its an order or else")

Id think free will doesnt need to mean you hallucinate your choices in an a-historical disconnected vacuum without "outside" world or memory - in a perspective of a transcendent soul, quasi-agnostic. For you (your brain) to want to eat the cake there must be a cake in the 1st place, you must know its edible from past experiences or information and so on

Reminder that historically the concept of free will arose in proeminence in modernity as a political motiff to reduce the power of monarchical absolutism so it can also be interpreted as a social standpoint
