How much minoxidil should I be using for beard + hair

I just got some 5% minox today, going to start using it in earnest in combination with a derma roller/stamp (haven’t decided yet tbh).

How much of this shit should I be putting on? Just a thin layer or a solid lather like shaving cream? For my head should I lather up like shampoo

It’s got a very foamy consistency I hope I got the right kind ngl.
