How much of a musician's fame is based on looks?

In an ideal life I'd want to be a rapper and I don't think they need to look too good but it's weird how everyone here says everything is based on looks.

Yeah it's funny how most rappers would be deemed unnatractive though so it's more about maybe a niche or persona

I think in pop music looks matter more, in rap, the image and persona matters more cause the target demographic are young impressionable dudes, so they dont care about the looks of another dude in general, as long as he's not a goblin-like looking dude
