If i genuinely want to see myself like for the first time, how could i do it?
How much time should i go without seeing my reflection or pics to see what i truly look like?
Always using the mirror will activate coping mechanisms where you see urself as better looking but if you don't use it for a lot of time u forget about it

3 hours 46 minutes approximately is when the hypothalamus part of the inner brainiodynamic cell comes to a restart. It is a loop of sorts which should take almost 4 hours.

Based on what? What does that area of the brain do?

It builds short term memory of the things you see daily. We weren't meant to see our faces in mirrors in nature, so it's quick to forget how we look like.

I visited family in korea for a month and my extended family had only 1 mirror.

I pretty much only saw my face once or twice in passing but when I got home and looked in the mirror for longer than a few seconds, I had a mini heart attack cause I didn't recognize my face.

It was like looking in a true mirror, I saw all of my flaws immediately and wanted to rope :lul:

The mere exposure effect is real af, I quickly got used to seeing myself everyday and forgot some flaws

So 1 month is enough?

Sort of, it was long enough I sort of forgot my own face but I instantly went back to recognizing myself and my brain went back into cope mode. I imagine you would need to go much longer to no longer be affected by mere exposure effect

Imo 6 months would be enough, what do you think?
