My history teacher was antysemitic as fuck.
As far as i remember he said that six million killed jews is very symbolic number for them. They pushed this number many times, already in XIX century, to get this in peoples minds.
With every pogrom they mentioned this number and man, there were lots of them. I had a photo of every article from xix and xx century about 6 million killed jews, but cannot find it.

But i found and article about this. Of course google is blind for this kind of searches, had to find this through duckduckgo.
