How strange is it for guys to get approached in public? Embarrasing

I have never been approached by a woman in public.
I was out with my friends, they got approached by a group of girls on 3 separate occasions.
On the third, they all talked and one of them laughed at me.
I autistically walked off and outpaced them, only for it to be more awkward once they caught up.
I excused myself and got htem to go home with me, since I was sleeping over.
